Today we are here to celebrate and share our Term 3 ASPIRE work. We looked at how we could make a change and begun our inquiry process of investigating and planning how we could persuade others to make a change too. We needed to think about how we could use persuasive features to make our movies persuade people to make a change. We needed to research our topic carefully to ensure we were providing good information and advice to our audience. And, most importantly, we needed to consider how we could make our movies entertaining so our audience enjoyed them. Today we had an awesome morning playing in a futsal tournament. It was lots of fun with everyone having lots of opportunity to participate. The finale was a teachers vs student game. It was close but the teachers won. Here is the story starter that we all used. Check out our stories on our blog pages.
Without thinking, Tom dived forwards and grabbed the guard's knife arm. The knife clattered to the ground. Tom pinned the guard up against the cave wall. There was a yell from behind him and Tom felt himself being pulled backwards. Strong fingers were digging into his flesh. Tom dropped to one knee, lunged back with the metal bar. But it was too late. The room flooded with light. A harsh voice barked out a command... Check out our quick write based on an incident involving Mum, Dad and kids at the playground. What could go wrong?

You need an idea for a story. Create a story like vegetable soup. Start with the empty pot and add elements to the pot to make the story. Adding the story ideas and elements to add flavour to the story.
This week we have Bruce Potter visit us and we will be involved in a RNZB Ballet workshop on Wednesday.
Another important date is Wednesday 18 November. We will be have a Beach Education Day. We will need parent transport and parent help for this day. I will send home a letter soon. All of year 7 had a great morning at the Edgar Centre learning and using a number of winter sports skills. There was rugby, hockey, athletics, basketball and more. Everyone had a fun time moving around the different sports. We had an awesome day rock climbing, building sand sculptures and finding treasure at Long Beach on Wednesday. Everyone gave all activities a go and everyone achieved success! I am very proud of Room 3. A huge thanks to the parents who helped. They really did make the day amazing! |
